The 2/5 Profile in Human Design

The 2/5 profile in Human Design is the Hermit/Heretic. It pairs a conscious need for privacy with an unconscious field that draws other people's expectations. People with this profile want to be left alone, yet others keep projecting that they can solve problems.

What it means

The 2/5 lives with a tension. The second line wants to retreat and do things its own way. The fifth line, which other people see more clearly than the 2/5 does, attracts projections: people assume this person has the answer. When a 2/5 takes the call and it fits their talents, they can deliver practical solutions in a crisis. When the projection doesn't fit, their reputation can take the hit.

The two lines

A profile is two numbers. The first is the line of your Personality Sun, the part of you that you know and recognise. The second is the line of your Design Sun, which works below awareness and is often easier for other people to see. In the 2/5, the conscious line is the Hermit, who has natural talents they rarely notice, needs time alone, and gets called out by others. The unconscious line is the Heretic, who draws other people's projections and is expected to arrive with practical answers.

How common it is

About 2.5 percent of people have a 2/5 profile, one of the six rarer profiles. It is a right angle profile, which Human Design describes as a personal path: your life unfolds mostly through your own experiences, and other people come and go along the way.

Strengths

Natural talent, calm under pressure, practical problem solving, and an air of mystery that makes people trust them.

Challenges

Being misjudged, burning out on other people's expectations, guarding privacy too hard, and saying yes to calls that don't fit.

How Cosmic Array reads it

Your profile comes from two positions of the Sun: where it was when you were born, and where it was 88 degrees earlier, about three months before birth. Cosmic Array calculates both with the Swiss Ephemeris and shows the profile next to your type, strategy and authority in the Architect blueprint. A line covers less than one degree of the Sun's path, so if the Sun was close to the edge of a line, the birth time can change the profile. Without a time, the blueprint uses noon and marks the result as approximate.
