What it means
An Expression 7 does its best work in depth. They tend to become specialists, whether in science, a craft or a spiritual practice, and they need quiet to think. Small talk wears them out; a hard question wakes them up. The lesson is trusting other people enough to share what they have found.
Strengths
Analysis, intuition, concentration, independent thinking and a feel for what is really going on.
Challenges
Aloofness, suspicion, overthinking, and retreating when they could connect.
How to calculate it
Write out your full birth name and give each letter its Pythagorean value: A, J and S are 1; B, K and T are 2; and so on up to I and R, which are 9. Add every letter, then reduce the total to a single digit, keeping 11, 22 and 33 whole. Accents don't change a letter's value. Example: Ruth Moore. Ruth: 9 + 3 + 2 + 8 = 22 and Moore: 4 + 6 + 6 + 9 + 5 = 30. Together 22 + 30 = 52, then 5 + 2 = 7.
