Vine Celtic Tree Sign Meaning

Vine is the tenth sign of the Celtic tree calendar, covering September 2 to September 29, and its archetype is The Equalizer. Tree calendar lore reads Vine people as diplomatic and harmony seeking, with a strong eye for beauty. Its Ogham letter is Muin.

What it means

The Vine month holds the autumn equinox, when day and night are nearly equal, and balance is the theme of the sign. Vine people are said to weigh both sides of anything, which makes them fair and good at smoothing conflict, and sometimes slow to choose. They have refined taste and enjoy good food, good design and good company. They can be changeable, but at their best they make the people around them feel at ease.

Strengths

Diplomacy, fairness, refined taste, charm, and an ability to see both sides of an argument.

Challenges

Indecision, mood swings, keeping the peace at the expense of their own needs, and a weakness for comfort and indulgence.

Vine dates and Ogham letter

Vine runs from September 2 to September 29 (28 days). Its Ogham letter is Muin, the letter for the sound M. The dates come from the tree calendar Robert Graves set out in The White Goddess (1948): thirteen 28-day months named after Ogham letters in his Beth-Luis-Nion order, plus one spare day, December 23. It is a modern system inspired by the Ogham, not a calendar recorded from the ancient Druids, and scholars think only some of the Ogham letter names first meant trees. On the Western calendar, Vine starts in Virgo and the Sun moves into Libra around September 23, so roughly the first 21 days are Virgo Suns and the last 7 are Libra.

The vine in folklore

Grapevines were rare in early Ireland, which makes Muin one of the more debated letters. Medieval scholars glossed it as vine and Graves kept that reading, while some later writers prefer the blackberry, which ripens at the same time of year. Either way the month is about harvest: fruit gathered in and the year's work weighed up.

How Cosmic Array reads it

Your tree depends only on the day and month you were born, so the year and birth time don't change it. The Architect blueprint shows your Celtic tree next to your Chinese animal, Mayan sign and Egyptian deity, and its written synthesis can set the tree against your Western Sun, Moon and Rising.
