Cauac Mayan Day Sign Meaning

Cauac is the nineteenth day sign of the Maya Tzolkin, the sign of the storm and the rain, and in K'iche' it is Kawoq. People born on a Cauac day are said to bring change and renewal, like rain after a dry spell. Daykeepers also link Kawoq to the community, to women and to midwives.

What it means

The Cauac glyph shows the thunderstorm, clouds heavy with rain. Storms frighten people and they also feed the fields. The K'iche' Kawoq is a day of gathering: the family, the community, the women who bring new life into it as midwives. Daykeepers add that it can gather troubles too, the way clouds build before a storm breaks. Kawoq people are read as strong and supportive, carrying an energy that changes the atmosphere of any room they walk into.

Strengths

Energy, a gift for renewal, care for family and community, and courage in a crisis.

Challenges

Volatility, soaking up everyone else's troubles, and bringing chaos along with the change.

Dates

Cauac comes around every 20 days, because the Tzolkin runs through its 20 day signs in a fixed order, with Etznab before it and Ahau after it. Each time it returns it carries a new number from 1 to 13, so one exact pairing of number and sign comes back only every 260 days. The next four Cauac days on or after October 23, 2026 are October 28, 2026, November 17, 2026, December 7, 2026 and December 27, 2026. The Long Count completed its 13th b'ak'tun on December 21, 2012, which was 4 Ahau, and the first Cauac day after it fell on January 9, 2013. Someone born on August 3, 2008, for example, has Cauac as their day sign.

How Cosmic Array reads it

Cosmic Array counts your day sign in the traditional Tzolkin, using the standard GMT correlation (584283) between the Maya Long Count and our calendar, the count that lines up with the one highland daykeepers still keep. The Architect blueprint shows your day sign by its Yucatec name, Cauac, and reads it alongside your other ancient calendar signs and the rest of your chart. It shows the sign only, not the number from 1 to 13 that completes a full Tzolkin date. The colour name Blue Storm comes from the Dreamspell, a modern system created by Jose Arguelles. Dreamspell runs on a different day count, so a Dreamspell calculator may show a different sign for the same birthday.
