The 6/2 Profile in Human Design

The 6/2 profile in Human Design is the Role Model/Hermit. It combines the three-stage life of the sixth line with an unconscious layer of natural talent. People with this profile often seem older than their years and grow into a quiet authority that others trust.

What it means

The 6/2 goes through three stages. Until about 30 they learn through trial and error. From about 30 to 50 they step back, observe and take stock, often in a quieter life. After that they tend to become an example of living by their own nature. The second line underneath adds talents that others see first and a strong need for time alone. A 6/2 often feels apart from the crowd, even when the crowd is looking at them.

The two lines

A profile is two numbers. The first is the line of your Personality Sun, the part of you that you know and recognise. The second is the line of your Design Sun, which works below awareness and is often easier for other people to see. In the 6/2, the conscious line is the Role Model, who lives in three stages: trial and error until about 30, a quieter stretch watching from a distance until about 50, then living as an example. The unconscious line is the Hermit, who has natural talents they rarely notice, needs time alone, and gets called out by others.

How common it is

About 15 percent of people have a 6/2 profile, one of the six common profiles. It is a left angle profile, which Human Design describes as transpersonal: your path runs through the people you meet, and relationships shape the way your life goes.

Strengths

Objectivity, natural leadership, a talent others see before they do, and trustworthiness.

Challenges

Aloofness, high standards for themselves and others, impatience during the middle stage, and avoiding people when they are needed.

How Cosmic Array reads it

Your profile comes from two positions of the Sun: where it was when you were born, and where it was 88 degrees earlier, about three months before birth. Cosmic Array calculates both with the Swiss Ephemeris and shows the profile next to your type, strategy and authority in the Architect blueprint. A line covers less than one degree of the Sun's path, so if the Sun was close to the edge of a line, the birth time can change the profile. Without a time, the blueprint uses noon and marks the result as approximate.
