The 6/3 Profile in Human Design

The 6/3 profile in Human Design is the Role Model/Martyr. It pairs the three-stage arc of the sixth line with an unconscious habit of learning through trial and error. People with this profile seek something ideal and keep finding out, often the hard way, what holds up.

What it means

The 6/3 lives through the sixth line's three stages: experiment until about 30, watch from a distance until about 50, then live as an example. The third line underneath keeps the experiments going through every stage, so life rarely settles. The upside is a deep store of experience. A 6/3 can be optimistic and disillusioned in the same week, and over time they learn which ideals were worth keeping.

The two lines

A profile is two numbers. The first is the line of your Personality Sun, the part of you that you know and recognise. The second is the line of your Design Sun, which works below awareness and is often easier for other people to see. In the 6/3, the conscious line is the Role Model, who lives in three stages: trial and error until about 30, a quieter stretch watching from a distance until about 50, then living as an example. The unconscious line is the Martyr, who learns by trial and error, finding out what works by bumping into what doesn't.

How common it is

About 2 percent of people have a 6/3 profile, one of the six rarer profiles. It is a left angle profile, which Human Design describes as transpersonal: your path runs through the people you meet, and relationships shape the way your life goes.

Strengths

Resilience, experience, adaptability, and the wisdom of someone who has tried many things.

Challenges

Disappointment when ideals meet reality, restlessness, difficulty committing, and feeling that life is less stable than other people's.

How Cosmic Array reads it

Your profile comes from two positions of the Sun: where it was when you were born, and where it was 88 degrees earlier, about three months before birth. Cosmic Array calculates both with the Swiss Ephemeris and shows the profile next to your type, strategy and authority in the Architect blueprint. A line covers less than one degree of the Sun's path, so if the Sun was close to the edge of a line, the birth time can change the profile. Without a time, the blueprint uses noon and marks the result as approximate.
