What starseed lore says
In starseed lore, the Mintakan home world was an ocean planet that no longer exists, and Mintakans carry a homesickness for a place they cannot go back to. They are said to feel most at peace near clear water and to be drawn to simplicity, honesty and kindness. Many are cheerful in a way others find disarming, even while privately feeling out of place on Earth. The lore says their job is to bring clarity wherever they go and to show others a gentler way to live.
Strengths
Clarity, honesty, gentleness, an optimism that lifts other people, and a calm that comes easily near water.
Challenges
Homesickness without a clear cause, naivety about other people's motives, sensitivity to conflict and harshness, and difficulty feeling grounded in everyday life.
The star: Mintaka
Mintaka, also called Delta Orionis, is the westernmost of the three stars in Orion's Belt and the first of them to rise. It is a multiple system of hot blue stars, roughly 1,200 light years away (estimates vary), and it sits almost exactly on the celestial equator, so it rises close to due east and sets close to due west from almost anywhere on Earth. The code places Mintaka at about 22 degrees Gemini in the tropical zodiac. The Sun comes within 5 degrees of that point around June 8 to June 18 each year (a day either way, depending on the year), in Gemini, so people born then pick up the star points through their Sun. The Moon and Rising can reach it on any date.
How the origin is worked out
Cosmic Array scores seven origins from two sources. The first is a four-question quiz, and Mintakan picks up points from these answers: "To find clarity, purity, and flow" on the motivation question (1 point); "I am too sensitive and absorb others' emotions" on the biggest challenge question (2 points); "I feel a deep, unexplained longing for 'home'" on the biggest challenge question (2 points); "Lucid Dreaming & Water Magic" on the cosmic superpower question (2 points). The second is your chart: if your Sun, Moon or Rising is within 5 degrees of Mintaka, Mintakan gets 3 more points (once, even if two or all three are close). The highest score wins. In a tie, an origin with a star contact goes first, then the one your superpower answer scored, then landscape, motivation and challenge in that order. The quiz is balanced so that each of the seven origins comes out on top for a similar share of answer combinations. If you skip the quiz and none of the seven stars touches your Sun, Moon or Rising, the reading says Earth Soul instead.
How Cosmic Array reads it
When you create a blueprint, Cosmic Array offers the short Starseed Calibration quiz, which you can skip. The Architect blueprint then shows your origin with a one-line summary, and its written synthesis can tie it to the rest of your chart. Your Moon and Rising depend on birth time, so an accurate time makes the star check more reliable.
