What it means
An angel blows a trumpet from the clouds, and below, people rise from their coffins with arms raised to answer. It is a card of awakening, a call heard and acted on. As a birth card Judgement points to one or more moments of reckoning that redirect a life, often a vocation that arrives clearly and won't be ignored. Judgement people tend to look back on their past honestly and forgive it. The Golden Dawn links the card with the element of Fire. The lesson is to answer the call when it comes, and not to judge others by the standard you set for yourself.

With its partner cards
Judgement always comes with the High Priestess as its Soul card. The Priestess holds the quiet inner knowing, and Judgement turns it into a summons. People with this pair often recognise their calling first as a private hunch that grows until they can't ignore it.
When it is your birth card
Greer's method adds the month, day and full year, then adds the digits until the total is 22 or less. In her terms the higher card of a pair is the Personality card and the lower one the Soul card. Between 1900 and 2030, Judgement is a birth card for 6.2 percent of birthdays. It always comes as the Personality card over the High Priestess, 20 and 2. How often it turns up depends heavily on birth year, since the year makes up almost all of the total: 11 percent of birthdays from 1900 to 1959, 3.9 percent of birthdays from 1960 to 1999 and no birthdays from 2000 to 2030. The last birthday in that span to produce Judgement is January 1, 1989. Nobody born after that, through 2030, has it, and the next birthday that does is December 31, 2056. For example, someone born on October 1, 1980 adds 10 + 1 + 1980 = 1991, then 1 + 9 + 9 + 1 = 20, then 2 + 0 = 2. That gives Judgement and the High Priestess (20 and 2).
