What it means
A dancer floats inside a wreath of laurel, holding a wand in each hand, with four winged creatures in the corners of the card. It is the end of the sequence, everything in its place. As a birth card the World points to a life of integration: finishing what you start, bringing together skills and people from different places, feeling at home almost anywhere. The Golden Dawn links it with Saturn, the planet of time and completion. World people often reach milestones others take longer to reach. The lesson is that every completion is also a doorway to the next cycle.
Strengths
Follow-through, a wide view, ease with many kinds of people and the satisfaction of finishing well.
Challenges
Restlessness once a goal is reached, perfectionism about endings, and trouble living with loose ends.
With its partner cards
The World always comes with the Empress as its Soul card. Readers see the pair as creation carried all the way to completion. The Empress grows things and the World finishes them, so people with these cards often build something whole, whether a family, a business or a body of work.
When it is your birth card
Greer's method adds the month, day and full year, then adds the digits until the total is 22 or less. In her terms the higher card of a pair is the Personality card and the lower one the Soul card. Between 1900 and 2030, the World is a birth card for 5.9 percent of birthdays. It always comes as the Personality card over the Empress, 21 and 3. How often it turns up depends heavily on birth year, since the year makes up almost all of the total: 10 percent of birthdays from 1900 to 1959, 4.1 percent of birthdays from 1960 to 1999 and no birthdays from 2000 to 2030. The last birthday in that span to produce the World is January 1, 1990. Nobody born after that, through 2030, has it, and the next birthday that does is December 31, 2156. For example, someone born on January 7, 1984 adds 1 + 7 + 1984 = 1992, then 1 + 9 + 9 + 2 = 21, then 2 + 1 = 3. That gives the World and the Empress (21 and 3).
How Cosmic Array reads it
Cosmic Array works out your birth cards from your date of birth alone with Greer's method, so no birth time is needed. The Architect blueprint lists them by name in the same panel as your Life Path, and the two always line up. A set with the World always ends in the Empress, which goes with a Life Path of 3, because both reduce the same birthday digits.
