What it means
Ash people are said to live half in the world and half in their imagination. They are often artistic, drawn to music, writing or anything that lets them make something from nothing, and they soak up the moods of the people around them. They need room to move and do not take well to being managed. When they are rested and free, they have a way of making ordinary things feel a little magical, which is where the Enchanter name comes from.
Strengths
A rich imagination, deep empathy, an artist's eye, and an easy charm that draws people in.
Challenges
Moods that swing with the people nearby, drifting into daydreams when something practical is due, resisting structure even when it would help, and taking on other people's troubles as their own.
Ash dates and Ogham letter
Ash runs from February 18 to March 17 (28 days, or 29 in a leap year, since February 29 counts as Ash). Its Ogham letter is Nion, the letter for the sound N. The dates come from the tree calendar Robert Graves set out in The White Goddess (1948): thirteen 28-day months named after Ogham letters in his Beth-Luis-Nion order, plus one spare day, December 23. It is a modern system inspired by the Ogham, not a calendar recorded from the ancient Druids, and scholars think only some of the Ogham letter names first meant trees. Almost every Ash birthday has a Pisces Sun; only the first day or two, before the Sun leaves Aquarius around February 19, can be Aquarius.
The ash in folklore
In Norse myth the world tree Yggdrasil is an ash, and Graves leaned on that link. Ireland had sacred ash trees of its own: three of the five great trees of early Irish lore, at Uisnech, Tortu and Dathi, are described as ash. The wood is strong and springy, so it went into spear shafts, oars and tool handles, the working parts of a household.
How Cosmic Array reads it
Your tree depends only on the day and month you were born, so the year and birth time don't change it. The Architect blueprint shows your Celtic tree next to your Chinese animal, Mayan sign and Egyptian deity, and its written synthesis can set the tree against your Western Sun, Moon and Rising.
