What it means
A 4/1 holds a very specific path. The fourth line connects them to a network that carries their influence. The first line, below awareness, gives them a foundation they don't bend from. They tend to do best when they follow that path and let the world adjust around them. Trying to fit in by changing direction usually doesn't work for them, and stubbornness is the shadow side of the same steadiness.
The two lines
A profile is two numbers. The first is the line of your Personality Sun, the part of you that you know and recognise. The second is the line of your Design Sun, which works below awareness and is often easier for other people to see. In the 4/1, the conscious line is the Opportunist, who builds a life through friendships and finds chances through people they already know. The unconscious line is the Investigator, who needs a solid foundation and studies a subject until it feels safe to act on.
How common it is
About 2 percent of people have a 4/1 profile, one of the six rarer profiles. It is the only juxtaposition profile, which Human Design calls a fixed fate. It sits between the personal and transpersonal profiles, and the path tends to stay on a set track whatever happens around it.
Strengths
Consistency, conviction, influence through friendships, and knowledge that rests on a solid base.
Challenges
Inflexibility, difficulty compromising, friction with people who need them to change, and isolation when the network doesn't share their views.
How Cosmic Array reads it
Your profile comes from two positions of the Sun: where it was when you were born, and where it was 88 degrees earlier, about three months before birth. Cosmic Array calculates both with the Swiss Ephemeris and shows the profile next to your type, strategy and authority in the Architect blueprint. A line covers less than one degree of the Sun's path, so if the Sun was close to the edge of a line, the birth time can change the profile. Without a time, the blueprint uses noon and marks the result as approximate.
