The 4/6 Profile in Human Design

The 4/6 profile in Human Design is the Opportunist/Role Model. It combines a conscious life built on friendships with the three-stage arc of the sixth line. People with this profile influence those close to them and gain a wider perspective as they age.

What it means

The 4/6 needs its people. The fourth line finds work, love and chances through its existing network. The sixth line, unconscious and often more visible to others, adds the three stages: trial and error until about 30, a period of watching from a distance until about 50, and then a life that others look up to. The 4/6 often has strong ideas about how things should be, and spends much of life learning which ideals hold up.

The two lines

A profile is two numbers. The first is the line of your Personality Sun, the part of you that you know and recognise. The second is the line of your Design Sun, which works below awareness and is often easier for other people to see. In the 4/6, the conscious line is the Opportunist, who builds a life through friendships and finds chances through people they already know. The unconscious line is the Role Model, who lives in three stages: trial and error until about 30, a quieter stretch watching from a distance until about 50, then living as an example.

How common it is

About 14 percent of people have a 4/6 profile, one of the six common profiles. It is a right angle profile, which Human Design describes as a personal path: your life unfolds mostly through your own experiences, and other people come and go along the way.

Strengths

Strong friendships, influence, a balanced perspective, and a sense of what is fair.

Challenges

Aloofness, idealism that turns into judgment, losing footing when the network shifts, and feeling stuck during the middle stage.

How Cosmic Array reads it

Your profile comes from two positions of the Sun: where it was when you were born, and where it was 88 degrees earlier, about three months before birth. Cosmic Array calculates both with the Swiss Ephemeris and shows the profile next to your type, strategy and authority in the Architect blueprint. A line covers less than one degree of the Sun's path, so if the Sun was close to the edge of a line, the birth time can change the profile. Without a time, the blueprint uses noon and marks the result as approximate.
