What it means
A child rides a white horse under a blazing sun, arms wide, a wall of sunflowers behind. Nothing is hidden in this card. As a birth card the Sun points to a life lived in the open, with visible success, children or a childlike delight, and a gift for making people feel good. Sun people tend to be honest and generous. The shadow is subtler than in most cards: a need to be seen, and trouble coping when the light goes behind a cloud. The lesson is to shine without needing applause.
Strengths
Optimism, warmth, vitality, clarity, generosity and an easy confidence that helps others relax.
Challenges
Needing attention, glossing over problems, and struggling when life refuses to be sunny.
The three-card set
In Greer's method the Sun brings two more cards. 19 reduces to 10, Wheel of Fortune, and 10 reduces to 1, the Magician. Readers see the set as one story: the Magician's skill at the base, the Wheel's timing and luck in the middle, and the Sun's open joy at the top. People with this set are thought to have a lot to draw on, and their task is to use it in plain view.
When it is your birth card
Greer's method adds the month, day and full year, then adds the digits until the total is 22 or less. In her terms the higher card of a pair is the Personality card and the lower one the Soul card. Between 1900 and 2030, the Sun is a birth card for 6.2 percent of birthdays. It always comes as a set of three with Wheel of Fortune and the Magician, 19, 10 and 1. How often it turns up depends heavily on birth year, since the year makes up almost all of the total: 11 percent of birthdays from 1900 to 1959, 3.6 percent of birthdays from 1960 to 1999 and no birthdays from 2000 to 2030. The last birthday in that span to produce the Sun is January 1, 1988. Nobody born after that, through 2030, has it, and the next birthday that does is December 31, 2046. For example, someone born on September 4, 1977 adds 9 + 4 + 1977 = 1990, then 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19, then 1 + 9 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1. That gives the Sun, Wheel of Fortune and the Magician (19, 10 and 1).
How Cosmic Array reads it
Cosmic Array works out your birth cards from your date of birth alone with Greer's method, so no birth time is needed. The Architect blueprint lists them by name in the same panel as your Life Path, and the two always line up. A set with the Sun always ends in the Magician, which goes with a Life Path of 1, because both reduce the same birthday digits.
