Strength as Your Birth Tarot Card

Strength as a birth tarot card describes someone here to endure, and to learn that real power is gentle. It is card VIII of the Major Arcana. Readers see Strength people as brave and patient, able to calm anger or fear, their own included, without force.

What it means

A woman in white closes a lion's jaws with her bare hands, an infinity sign above her head. She isn't fighting it. The lion is calm because she is. As a birth card Strength describes inner courage more than muscle: staying kind under pressure and holding steady through long hard stretches. Strength people often have big feelings and a temper to tame, and that taming is the work of a lifetime. The Golden Dawn links the card with Leo, which fits its warmth and its pride.

Strengths

Courage, compassion, stamina, and a calming effect on others.

Challenges

Pushing through when rest is needed, hiding anger until it bursts, and pride that won't ask for help.

With its partner cards

When Strength isn't alone, it is the Soul card under the Star. Readers see that pairing as hope with a spine: the Star brings faith and healing, and Strength supplies the patience to keep going until hope turns into something real. Readers often link it with helpers and healers.

When it is your birth card

Greer's method adds the month, day and full year, then adds the digits until the total is 22 or less. In her terms the higher card of a pair is the Personality card and the lower one the Soul card. Between 1900 and 2030, Strength is a birth card for 11 percent of birthdays, about one in nine. It comes up in two ways: on its own as a single card (6.6 percent of birthdays, and only from December 31, 1936 on); and as the Soul card under the Star, 17 and 8 (4.5 percent of birthdays). That share holds steady in every decade, because the last card of any set is the date's total reduced to a single figure, and those spread evenly from 1 to 9. For example, someone born on September 22, 1984 adds 9 + 22 + 1984 = 2015, then 2 + 0 + 1 + 5 = 8. That gives Strength (8).

How Cosmic Array reads it

Cosmic Array works out your birth cards from your date of birth alone with Greer's method, so no birth time is needed. The Architect blueprint lists them by name in the same panel as your Life Path, and the two always line up. A set that ends in Strength always goes with a Life Path of 8, because both reduce the same birthday digits.
